Where’s the country music?

Published by Erica at 7:54 pm under Country Music Edit This

So I was checking out the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. After wading through all the Lil Waynes, Chris Browns and Mariah Careys of the world, I finally found a country song…at #33. Three guesses on who it was. Hey! No peeking below!

Brad Paisley and I’m Still a Guy. Good song…it’s not my favorite country song out there right now but I can see how it would have mass appeal to - say - the male populations of this earth. Heck, I bet even bulls, stallions and bucks like this song.

Then there’s a flurry of country songs in the late 30s and 40s - if you can call them country songs. Carrie Underwood with Last Name (she’s kinda pop-ish), Trace Adkins with You’re Gonna Miss This (goooood song), freakin’ Taylor Swift with Our Song (TS really just can’t sing that well but that’s a different discussion for a different time) and Rascal Flatts with Every Day (also pop-ish).

Where the heck is Life in a Nothern Town?? That song is absolutely amazing. Or how about Johnny and June? We all know about my love affair with that piece of work. There’s just so many great songs, and I think it’s a cryin’ shame they aren’t being represented.
